  1. Through a series of investigations, research, and interactive activities you will discover what makes the ultimate athlete. Think about all the parts which make an athlete most prepared to do their job.

  2. Inside the frame, list what you think what makes the ultimate athlete. What features or traits would they have? Include at least 4 pictures or phrases.

  3. Circulatory System 1. Label the organs 2. What is the function of the circulatory system? What is the function of the circulatory system?

  4. Why does the heart rate increase during exercise? What activity would make your athlete's heart rate increase?

  5. Respiratory System 1. Label the organs 2. What is the function of the respiratory system? What is the function of the Respiratory System?

  6. How do your respiratory system and circulatory system work together? How does your athlete's respiratory respond to exercise?

  7. Excretory System 1. Label the organs 2. What is the function of the excretory system? What is the function of the Excretory System?

  8. Explain the role of that the excretory system plays in regard to getting rid of the body’s wastes. How would your athlete's excretory system adjust to exercise?

  9. Muscular System 1. Label the organs 2. What is the function of the muscular system system? What is the function of the Muscular System?

  10. How does the muscular system work with the circulatory system? Research what specific muscles (at least 5) your athlete would use most. Label them on the diagram. (use the line tool)

  11. Nervous System 1. Label the organs 2. What is the function of the nervous system? What is the function of the Nervous System?

  12. How does your nervous system and muscular system work together when you catch a baseball? What is a response of the body’s sensory organs when your athlete competes?

  13. In each numbered box write what is occuring at each point in the reflex arc from external stimulus to response.

  14. Digestive System 1. Label the organs 2. What is the function of the digestive system? What is the function of the Digestive System?

  15. Use the picture to explain why the mass of proteins eaten would equal the mass of free amino acids delivered to body cells.

  16. Write what is occuring at each step of the digestive process. Include what is being absorbed in steps 3 and 4.

  17. Choose 3 body systems and explain how your athlete uses each one in competitions and how they work together.

  18. Explain what would happen to your athlete if one of those systems stopped properly working.

  19. How can you work to become the next ultimate athlete in that field?

  20. Congratulations! You have completed the Ultimate Athlete Project. At this time be sure you have Turned In your work to be assessed and graded.
