  1. “Scout’s Honor” (Elements of Plot) 1. Review the Elements of Plot Google slide presentation. 2. Launch StudySync and Read "Scout's Honor" : First Read 3. Complete the Plot Organizer (Google Docs) 4. Watch the Plot videos on the slide presentation for extra practice. 5. ** If you have missed class watch the "Plot Lesson Recording Video" ** I Can:identify and analyze elements of plot in a realistic fiction story (RL.6.3)

  2. Warm-up: How does the plot unfold; characters, setting, problem, solution? What can you learn from the way a book or movie is structured (beginning, middle, end)? What is the plot of your favorite book or movie?

  3. Checklist for Story Structure: • The author’s use of description, dialogue, and narration and how each develops the events in the story. • The pattern of organization the author uses: • Chronological (in order of time) • Events out of order • Flashbacks (a part of the story that shows something happened in the past) • Any sentence, chapter or scene that contributes to the setting, plot, and theme. Time to Read! • Read the short story, “Scout’s Honor” in StudySync (Scout’s Honor: First Read) or page 50 in your consumable book • Annotate the text for elements of plot such as setting, conflict, and important events • Complete the Plot Organizer (Google Doc) • Complete the Google Form for “Scout’s Honor” located in Google Classroom
