  1. FULLVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH WEDNESDAY NIGHT 6:00 P.M.

  2. YOU SHOULD BE A WITNESS FOR JESUS

  3. Everyone who has received the gift of salvation should have a desire to share that gift with others. This process of sharing the gospel and bringing others to Christ is called "personal evangelism."

  4. Step #1 – ContactOpen Source Bible Materials • Connecting with people. The point of contact is anywhere when two people enter a conversation: any situation where two people connect in some way. • There should be no barrier we are not willing to cross in order to make contact. (1 Pet 3:15)

  5. Step #2 – Challenge • Challenge is when we step out from the normal course of polite conversation in order to open up a dialogue concerning spiritual rather than temporal things. • Should be introduced gently and without pride. • Be ready to recognize the moment and challenge the person to enter into a spiritually oriented discussion. (Acts 8:26-39)

  6. Step #3 – Confirmation Open Source Bible Materials • Once the challenge is made and the discussion entered into, it is up to the one witnessing to prove or confirm that they know what they are talking about. (1 Jo 1:1-3) • The messenger must represent the message in their lifestyle. (Phil 2:15: 1 Pet 3:16)

  7. Step #4 – The call Open Source Bible Materials • After a discussion there should be a call for the individual to decide to accept as true what has been shared. • If a person has not made a conscious decision to become a follower of Jesus, then they are not. (Rom 10:8-10)

  8. Step #5 – Conversion • Bring the person to the point of expressing their faith in obedience to Jesus' commands of repentance and baptism. (Acts 22:16)

  9. How to Start a Conversation About Jesus

  10. Starting an Evangelistic Conversation with a Stranger • Ask the person if they go to church anywhere. If the person does attend church, say, “Great! So, how did you come to know Jesus as Savior?” • If the person does not attend church, invite them to yours. Also, you can inquire about the person’s spiritual beliefs.

  11. Starting an Evangelistic Conversation with Friends- Family • These are people you don’t already know are saved • Friends and family who do attend church: Ask them how their walk with Jesus is going. • Friends and family who might or might not attend church: Ask them if they go to church anywhere. • Friends and family who do not go to church anywhere: Ask them if they’ve thought about going to church lately.

  12. Handling Objections

  13. Handling Objections • Objections tells what people think and feel and tells how near that person is to receiving the gospel. • Listen to the person carefully and hear them out completely. • Restate the objection as a question and ask if you understand them correctly. • While the person is saying not yet or no, they may be wanting you to convince them.

  14. Some Reasons People Reject Christ • People reject Christ because they love their sin and they hate having it exposed by God’s light. • Most believe God cannot forgive them because of their past. (Rom 8:1) • Many struggle to believe what they cannot see. (2 Cor 5:7) • Many question God's love or His very existence. (Acts 4:12: Romans 1:20-21) • Many believe that a relationship with God will only end their "fun" in life.
