  1. Q&A With Royal Ballet Soloist: Tierney Heap We are thrilled to have sat down with Featured Coach & Royal Ballet Soloist Tierney Heap. In this blog, we chat about Tierneys journey of becoming a Royal Ballet Soloist as well as her tips & advice for young aspiring dancers. When there are some days with less rehearsals you can fit in some gym or pilates sessions too. If you need ballet dance classes then you can simply visit us here.

  2. When did you realise you wanted to become a professional dancer? ‘I started dancing at the age of 2 so I was always in the dance world growing up, but it wasn’t until I was 15/16 that I really wanted to pursue ballet as a professional career. I did go to a vocational ballet school but I still hadn’t really committed to ballet dance classes being my passion until after my time there.’

  3. 2. What is your biggest achievement to the date? ‘I feel like I’ve had many achievements throughout my career and at different times in my life but I guess as a stand out achievement I would say performing Queen of the Wilis opening night at The Royal Opera House was a major accomplishment for me especially as it is one of my favourite roles too.’

  4. 3. How do you stay driven when motivation is lacking? This is such a common thing and not actually spoken about much as I think people feel they can’t ever admit to being unmotivated but I have had so many times where I have lacked drive. A couple of things help me, firstly taking a step back and actually stopping helps me to miss dancing. Sometimes changing things up from your usual routine just gives you that refresh when you start back at it. Also I listen to a lot of positive reinforcement podcasts and have really been trying to look after my own health and wellbeing. Taking time for yourself is so important and helps reassess where you want your life to go. Lastly I would say if there’s anything in particular that drove you to being a professional in the first place then go back to that, whether that’s watching someone that inspires you, reading that autobiography of the person you love, watching videos or going to the theatre, whatever it might be go back to those things and see if it brings that spark back again.’

  5. 6. What are your goals for the future? ‘My goals for the future are to be the best version of myself, keep pushing beyond my limits and to continue working on the things I love and are passionate about.
