The total employment in Kuala Lumpur is estimated at around 838,400. • Employment: • 83% for finance, insurance, real estate, business and other services. • 17% from manufacturing and construction. • Rated as an alpha world city

Smart Enviroment • Malaysia Kuala Lumpur’s Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART), which opened in 2007, is a unique solution to the Malaysian capital’s long-term traffic and stormwater management problems. • The government encourages green building market growth through Green Technology Financing Scheme (GTFS). • Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), developed a 25 years initiative: Green Technology and Water, the National Green Technology Policy, the National Climate Change Policy. • 100000 trees by 2020. • The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will establish a smart partnership with the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM). • DBKL and FRIM are identifying the method needed to rejuvenate the Bukit Kerinchi Forest Park, which is among the 19 recreational parks in the city. • 16% of electricity generation is hydroelectric

Smart Living • As the population increases, the need for a smart healthcare grows. Kuala Lumpur hosts more than 70% medical manufacturers and industries • Fresh water is available to over 95 per cent of the population. Smart People • Malaysia ranks fourth globally in terms of people who are educated and pursue degrees or professional qualifications. • The literacy rate in Kuala Lumpur is 97.5% • Its telecommunications network is second in Southeast Asia, with 4.7 million fixed-line subscribers and more than 30 million cellular subscribers.
