  1. CHILDREN’S MUSICAL THEATER FIRST MEETING INFORMATION LETTERNovember 3, 2010Dear Parents,I am so thrilled that your child has shown an interest in being a part of this year’s very exciting Children’s Musical Theater project! Today we met to discuss the various roles that will need to be filled for this production. These roles include on and off stage participation: student assistant to director, acting, singing, dancing, narrating, “orchestra” (sound effects and musical accompaniment), set design, costume design, tech crew (photos, video, sound and lights design) and backstage crew. Each child had the opportunity to sign up for a first, second and third choice. I will do everything I can to place each child in a role with which he/she feels confident and enthusiastic! I am hoping to be able to post all assigned parts by Friday of this week – they will be posted outside my classroom door (1167). If we didn’t manage to get through all the auditions today, then the roles will be posted after next Wednesday’s meeting. Please be aware that some groups, including backstage crew, tech crew and costume and set design crews will not be required to attend every rehearsal, and/or may not need to be here for the full 1.5 hours each week (although all kids are invited to attend all practices if they wish!). For students who need to catch the 3:20 bus, or students who are trying to divide their time between this activity and other obligations, this may be a practical solution. I will be sending all of these details along with a production “contract” (stating all dates, times and expectations) home next week.Mr. Petr, the Assistant Choir Director (and my husband ) will be serving as Assistant Director for this show, and Ms. Lewis-Workman will also be on hand to help out at rehearsals. There are a few high school students lending their expertise as well (helping with script writing, song writing, choreography and stage managing). This is going to be a truly collaborative project and I welcome YOUR contributions! Some of you have already let me know that you are interested in helping in various ways, and I will be contacting you soon with requests!! Please be sure to let me know, if haven’t already, if you are interested in assisting us in any way whatsoever! Thank you for your support! And please email me any time: hurstm@ismanila.org.Sincerely,Ms. Marnie

  2. Children’s Musical Theater Cast and Crew Contract To: Performers, Crew Members and Parents, The first few rehearsals for our upcoming show have been amazing. All students are working very hard and they have truly taken this show into their own hands. Looking forward, in order to ensure the most fulfilling rehearsal experience for each child and the very best performance possible, it is important that we come to some shared agreements. I would like to ask each of you to carefully read the attached agreement, sign and return to Ms. Marnie no later than our next rehearsal on Wednesday, December 1. Please let me know immediately if you have any date conflicts or other concerns or questions. Thank you very much!
