We asked him about his shops and his café and he said, supper market and the sitting place is new (it was built by the new government) but the café was built prior the war.

  10. Interview • “I came Here, there was a lot of pictures in this house and I was so interested to find who was the owner of this house from the pictures, I made an album by those pictures, my neighbor has known the owner’s daughter that was in London and he helped me to send the album for her and the daughter sent a bottle of whiskey to me”.

  11. Interview He told us the story of his old houses in south Cyprus when he visited there after the war. He was from south Cyprus and he came to north after the war, in south Cyprus he had 2 shops and 1 house, they destroyed his house to widen the street and his shops are auto electric now. He had 3 children one of them is with him and 2 of them are married and live in Magusa. He said all of the people of this location (Baf) are not originally from there, some of them are from south Cyprus and some other places that they don’t want to talk about the reason of their immigration to there

  12. Housing situation. Housing situation: After the division of the island in 74, “the houses assigned to the refugees were totally foreign to the new residents, and they experienced very difficult times to reside in those new houses” (Bog˘aç, 2009). Based on our observation the situation of the houses are averagely good only that the refugees relocated experienced hard time to cope with the situation as Bog˘aç said. the houses which are allocated to them usually opens onto the back yard and the houses always have a small veranda at the front” (Bog˘aç, 2009). Some of the houses were small and did not fit to their taste, which is also associated with their previous experiences of space. Bog˘aç, 2009, Moore 2000, say “people put years of effort into transforming their houses into homes, which, in turn, reflect their individuality and/or identity” although the situation of the houses in that area is not bad compare to their situations.

  13. Lack of Engagement • Lack of Engagement: Feeling less than fully engaged at work or community activities is a troubling problem that contradicts living life to the fullest. Those refugees or the immigrant lack engagement, most of them were bored and sometimes holding back from previous condition and give it full potential. Engagement level has a lot to do with success and satisfaction. If you aren’t fully engaged, then it is likely that we are going to be unhappy, unhealthy or even unproductive. Therefore, we need to do something to fix the life of the refugees.

  14. Empowerment • Empowerment: To give somebody power or authority is like honoring his presences in a dignified manner. Those refugees immigrated from southern part of the island with at least little concern, power and authority from those in-charge of the region. While here in their settlement area they lost those feelings which became a problem to them at the moment. We found out that their increasing bad situations are due to the lack of engagement and empowerment. The government undermines support for empowering forms of help for immigrants.

  15. Previous experiences • Previous experience One of the deep wound that cannot be illuminated in the heart of the refugees is the previous potential conditions they had. Based on the interview we had with one of the immigrant, he said his previous situation and the current situation is incomparable, he leaves in a good and safer house than now.

  16. Discrimination • Discrimination: Discrimination exists when different treatments are applied to people in different groups. Discrimination is a common experience—not an unusual one. We found out that those immigrant always felt discriminated when they compare the government treatment related with their living conditions and the others. They expect what is called ‘‘disparate-treatment’’ to heal their previous bad feelings.
