Company Description XXI H&M • Headquarter in Los Angeles • offers cheap and chic apparel and accessories for women, men, teens, and kids. • 450 stores • mainly in US, Canada, and a dozen Asian countries • cloth made in Southern California • Headquarter in Sweden • offers cheap clothing, mainly for men and women ages 18 to 45, children's apparel, and its own brands of cosmetics. • 2000 stores • in 35 countries, most of them in Europe countries. Germany is their #1 market • 60% of cloth made in Asia.

Company History XXI H&M • CEO Don Chang and his wife was the founder. • Founded inyear1984 . • Opened the first store in Los Angeles, CA. • Fashion 21 was the name they began with. • Founder was ErlingPersson. • Opened the first store in Vasteras, Sweden . • Founded in year 1947. • The name they began with Hennes.

  4. Revenue Growth XXI H&M • Their revenues at US$1.7 billion in 2008. Their revenue has almost closely reached to 3 billion in 2009. • H&M’s sales excluding US$13.7 billion in 2008, with profit after tax up 13% to US$2.4 billion. But the rate dropped -4.1% in 2009 .

Financial Information &Potential Growth XXI H&M • In seven years, Forever 21 has grown from 1 million square feet of space to 10 million. • This year it plans to open at least 75 more stores in five countries. Forever 21 had a profit of $135 million in 2008. And it did all this without selling any item for more than $60. • Today, Forever 21 has made nearly $3 billion, 477-store, and 35,000-employee chain. • Growth in Asia especially in China and Hong Kong is especially strong, and makes up for declines in profit in Spain. • Although growth in internet retailing sales is particularly promising for clothing and footwear retailers, H&M has been a late entrant and will struggle to seize the opportunities offered by this channel.
