Director of Student Initiatives The purpose of this position is to support the School of Engineering and Computer Science student body and Baylor University Pro Futurisby enrolling, engaging, and retaining students. This position will direct retention, the first-year experience/ seminar, summer programs, and the overall persistence efforts within the School. Furthermore, this individual will accomplish these goals for the school through transformational educational programming, meeting with students concerning academic actions, monitor the early alert system, be the point person for MapWorks, and provide other academic support as needed.

  13. Pre-Engineering Policy • To move into a degree granting major, Pre-Engineering students must complete EGR 1301 and EGR 1302 with a grade ‘B’ or better and completion of their mathematics courses (including two of the following courses: MTH 1321, MTH 1322, or MTH 2321) with a grade of ‘C’ or better. MTH 1320 (pre-Calculus) must earn B or better). A student may not remain in Pre-Engineering for more than three enrollment terms. In accordance with the above policies, students who do not meet these requirements will be changed to ‘BA Undecided’ until they select a different major. Students will not be permitted to return to engineering at any point in the future.

  14. Internal Transfer Policy EGR • All internal transfer students must begin in Pre-Engineering and may only enter if they have a cumulative Baylor GPA of 3.25 or higher. Internal transfer students must have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours at Baylor University prior to entering Pre-Engineering and enrolling in EGR 1301 and EGR 1302. Within the 24 credit hours, students must enroll in the following and earn a ‘C’ or better: • MTH 1321 • MTH 1322 • CHE 1301 • PHY 1420 • Internal transfer students are strongly encouraged to take EGR 1301 and EGR 1302 during the summer at Baylor in order to be prepared for future coursework. Internal transfer students must follow the Pre-Engineering policy and process in order to declare a degree-granting engineering major.

  15. External Transfer Policy EGR All external transfer students must begin in Pre-Engineering and may only enter if they have a minimum 3.25 GPA. Upon entering Pre-Engineering, external transfer students who are transferring in courses equivalent to Baylor’s EGR 1301 and EGR 1302 will be permitted to declare a degree-granting engineering major. External transfer students who have not completed courses equivalent to EGR 1301 and EGR 1302 are strongly encouraged to take these courses during the summer at Baylor in order to be prepared for future coursework. They must follow the Pre-Engineering policy and process in order to declare a degree-granting engineering major.
