OpInform 2014 EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM OVERVIEW • Participation • Available at 43 of the 64 SUNY campuses • All campuses within each of the following sectors • University Center/Doctoral Degree Granting Institutions • Colleges of Technology • Twelve of the 13 University Colleges participate • Brockport, Buffalo State, Cortland, Fredonia, Geneseo, New Paltz, Old Westbury, Oneonta, Oswego, Plattsburgh, Potsdam, Purchase • Fourteen of the 30 Community Colleges participate • Broome, Dutchess, Erie, FIT, Finger Lakes, Fulton-Montgomery, Genesee, Hudson Valley, Monroe, Onondaga, Schenectady, Suffolk, Ulster, Westchester

OpInform 2014 SPECIAL ADMISSION PROGRAMS • Binghamton Advantage Program • Services • Live on the Binghamton campus & participate as part of its community • Take courses at Broome for one or two years • Admission • Complete Associates Degree OR • Earn 60 credits in second year & 3.0 GPA OR • Earn 30 credits in first year & 3.2 GPA

OpInform 2014 SPECIAL ADMISSION PROGRAMS • University at Buffalo Access to College Excellence Program • Admission • Academic profile (GPA & SAT/ACT) should be slightly below our general admissions category • Priority given to those with extenuating circumstances & extreme extracurricular involvement/leadership • Encourage students to contact their regionally assigned admissions advisor to express interest • Services • Individualized academic & personal advising • Peer mentoring & tutoring at no cost • Enrichment & community service opportunities • Assistance applying to scholarships

OpInform 2014 SPECIAL ADMISSION PROGRAMS • Buffalo State COMPASS Program • Admission • Academic profile similar to EOP class • No financial needs required • Counselors identify at time of review • Services • Meetings with assigned staff member • MAP-Works: an online survey designed to help analyze first year student success & transition • UNC 100: semester-long transition course • New Student Orientation Program

OpInform 2014 SPECIAL ADMISSION PROGRAMS • Fredonia Full Opportunity Program • Admission • Underrepresented students; or • Talents in fine arts or athletics; or • Extensive involvement in school & community • Services • Academic support services through the Learning Center • Drop-in & one-on-one assigned tutoring • Staff mentoring, advisement, & registration assistance • Guaranteed first semester seats in English Composition & Freshman Seminar

OpInform 2014 SPECIAL ADMISSION PROGRAMS • Geneseo Transitional Opportunity Program • Admission • HS Average 80 or higher • SAT 900 CR/M or 20 ACT • Applicants age 25 or older, recent immigrants, underrepresented groups, first generation • Services • Personal advisor available throughout the undergraduate years • Free, comprehensive tutoring program • Workshop series focused on skills needed to succeed in college

OpInform 2014 SPECIAL ADMISSION PROGRAMS • Oneonta College Assistance Migrant Program • Admission • Open to incoming freshmen • Students from migrant & seasonal farm-working families • Services • Scholarship in addition to need-based aid • Weekly stipend • Textbooks & transportation costs • Educational counselor for tutoring & planning • Counselor to help adjust to college life

OpInform 2014 SPECIAL ADMISSION PROGRAMS • Plattsburgh STAR Program • Admission • Demonstrated strong potential for success • Preference for first generation, disability, financially disadvantaged • Minimum GPA 80% & minimum SAT 850 CR/M • Services • Additional academic support in freshman year • Students & parents sign a statement of expectations acknowledging commitment to program guidelines • Must remain undeclared for one year

OpInform 2014 SPECIAL ADMISSION PROGRAMS • Potsdam Bridges Program • Admission • Faculty admissions committee • Extra essay & recommendation letter, most up-to-date senior year grades • Average student has 81 HS Average • Services • Additional adviser • Mandatory academic skills sessions • Limits students to 15 credits per semester in first year

OpInform 2014 SPECIAL ADMISSION PROGRAMS • Purchase College Merit Access Program • Admission • Students are nominated for consideration by admissions based on academics • No financial requirements • Student is reviewed, possibly interviewed, by Director of EOP/MAP • Services • Summer program which provides workshops to help prepare students for college life • Financial aid advising sessions • MAP counselor & peer mentor

OpInform 2014 SPECIAL ADMISSION PROGRAMS • Alfred State Opportunity Program • Admission • Provides an opportunity for students who show potential for success but whose academic background has not completely prepared them for the rigors of their chosen program • Similar to EOP academic review • Services • Academic support • No additional financial support outside student’s financial aid

OpInform 2014 ADDITIONAL ACCESS PROGRAMS • Liberty Partnerships Programs • Access • NYS Education Department’s Statewide Plan for Higher Education • Successful transition of middle & HS students at risk for dropping out • Graduates fully prepared for higher education and the workplace • Services • Partnerships with local schools, community, and institutions of higher education • Programming aligns with common core & regional workforce development strategies
