  3. I taught my dog Spot how to whistle. I don’t hear him whistling. I said I taught him; I didn’t say he learned it. It is assessment that helps us know the difference between teaching and learning.

  5. Wouldn’t it be nice if …..the problem had nice numbers? Change the “mean” test numbers to “nice” test numbers and then do the problem.

  6. Estimate Sometimes being close is good enough. Try doing it with nice numbers too.

  7. Just do it Some problems you just have to do, so just do them!

  8. Plug and Chug Plug in your own numbers (KISS) and see what happens

  9. Eliminate the Impossible Use estimation and common sense to rule out the impossible choices. Only the possible answer will remain.

  10. Using Answer Choices No need to work for the answer, be lazy! Use the answer choices and see if the result is true or false.
