Why is the sector relevant for Ghana • Marine sector provides highest income in the whole agric economy • Ghana is still not self sufficient in Fish Production • Fish requirement in Ghana far outweighs the supply. • Surplus is made up from fish imports-Loss of revenue to Ghana • Ghana has rich fishing grounds which lacks added value • The Ministry of Agriculture has put emphasis on Fish production • Marine Sector has no barriers to entry, Government is a regulator-law is skewed in the private sector favor
