  3. Key Terms • Cyclorama - A U-shaped continuous piece of canvas or muslin for backing of scenery and action. Hardwall cycs are permanently installed in front of one or two of the studio walls.  • Flat -A piece of standing scenery used as a background or to simulate the walls of a room. There are hardwall and softwall flats.

  7. Key Terms • Floor Plan - A diagram of scenery, properties, and set dressings drawn on a grid. • Props- Furniture and other objects used by talent and for set decoration.

  13. Key Terms Continued • S.A. - Stands for studio address system. A public address loudspeaker system from the control room to the studio. Also called studio talkback or P.A. (public address) system. • Intercom- Used for all production and engineering personal involved in a show. • Monitor- High quality video receiver used in the studio and control rooms.

  14. Key Terms Continued • P.L.- Stands for private line or phone line. Major intercommunication device in video studios. Also called party line. • Ingest -The selection, coding, and recording on a large server of various program feeds. • Programming Log – Is a second by second list of all programming for the day.

Key Terms Continued • Studio Control Room- A room adjacent to the studio in which the director, producer, various production assistants, technical directors, audio engineers, and the lighting director perform the jobs. • Master Control- Controls the program input, storage, and retrieval for on the air telecasts. Also, oversees the technical quality of all program material.

  24. Key Terms Continued • IFB- A prompting system that allows communication with the talent while on the air. A small earpiece worn by on air talent that carries program sound.
