Lametec DT Tablets (Generic Lamotrigine Tablets) Uses of Lametec DT 5 mg, 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg Tablets Lametec DT (Generic Lamotrigine Tablets) is used alone or together with other medicines to help control certain types of seizures (eg, partial seizures, tonic-clonic seizures, or Lennox-Gastaut syndrome) in the treatment of epilepsy. This medicine cannot cure epilepsy and will only work to control seizures for as long as you continue to take it. Lametec DT Tablets (Generic Lamotrigine Tablets) Lametec DT Tablets Dosage The dosage of Lametec DT tablets Lametec DT tablets (Lamotrigine Tablets) is given below: Dosage for Treatment of Epilepsy Add-On Therapy In Adults (over 12 years of age) In patients taking valproate with/without any other anti-epileptic drug (AED), the initial Lametec DT (Lamotrigine Tablets) dose is 25 mg every alternate day for two weeks, followed by 25 mg once a day for two weeks. Thereafter, the dose should be increased by a maximum of 25 mg to 50 mg every 1 to 2 weeks until the optimal response is achieved. The usual maintenance dose to achieve optimal response is 100-200 mg/day given once a day or in two divided doses. In those patients taking enzyme inducing AEDs or other medications that induce lamotrigine glucuronidation with/without other AEDs (except valproate), the initial Lamotrigine Tablets (Lametec DT) dose is 50 mg once a day for two weeks, followed by 100 mg/day given in two divided doses for two weeks. Thereafter, the dose should be increased by a maximum of 100 mg every 1-2 weeks until the optimal response is achieved. The usual maintenance dose to achieve optimal response is 200- 400 mg/day given in two divided doses. Lametec DT Tablets (Generic Lamotrigine Tablets) Lametec DT Tablets Dosage The dosage of Lametec DT tablets Lametec DT tablets (Lamotrigine Tablets) is given below: Dosage for Bipolar Disorder Adults (18 years of age and over): Because of the risk of rash, the initial dose and subsequent dose escalation should not be exceeded. Lamotrigine is recommended for use in bipolar patients at risk for a future depressive episode. The recommended initial adult dosage of Lametec DT is 25 mg once daily for 2 weeks, followed by 50 mg once daily for 2 weeks. Lametec DT Tablets (Generic Lamotrigine Tablets) Warnings Life-threatening serious rash and/or rash-related death: Discontinue at the first sign of rash, unless the rash is clearly not related to this medicine. Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis: Consider this diagnosis and evaluate patients immediately if they develop signs or symptoms of systemic inflammation. Discontinue Lametec DT if an alternative etiology is not established. Fatal or life-threatening hypersensitivity reaction: Multiorgan hypersensitivity reactions, also known as drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms, may be fatal or life threatening. Early signs may include rash, fever, and lymphadenopathy. These reactions may be associated with other organ involvement, such as hepatitis, hepatic failure, blood dyscrasias, or acute multiorgan failure. Lametec DT Tablets (Generic Lamotrigine Tablets) Warnings Cardiac rhythm and conduction abnormalities: Based on in vitro findings, Lametec DT could cause serious arrhythmias and/or death in patients with certain underlying cardiac disorders or arrhythmias. Any expected or observed benefit of Lametec DT in an individual patient with clinically important structural or functional heart disease must be carefully weighed against the risk for serious arrythmias and/or death for that patient. Blood dyscrasias (e.g., neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia): May occur, either with or without an associated hypersensitivity syndrome. Monitor the patient for signs of anemia, unexpected infection, or bleeding. Suicidal behavior and ideation: Monitor the patient for suicidal thoughts or behaviors. Following a suspected overdose, hospitalization of the patient is advised. General supportive care is indicated, including frequent monitoring of vital signs and close observation of the patient. If indicated, emesis should be induced; usual precautions should be taken to protect the airway. It should be kept in mind that Lamotrigine is rapidly absorbed.
