  2. What Causes Pneumonia? There are different types of Pneumonia, and what causes it but the commonly known one is Bacterial Pneumonia. It is caused by a bacterium called Streptococcus pneummoniae, or pneumococcus

  3. What Does The Bacterium Do To Cause The Disease? The bacterium invades the lungs by either being transmitted into the bloodstream or when airborne droplets are inhaled through the mouth, nose into the alveoli. They invade the immune system and kill the offending organisms then release cytokines causing damage to the immune system. This leads to fevers, chills, tiredness. Fluid from the surrounding blood vessels enter the alveoli interrupt normal oxygen circulation.

  4. How Does Pneumonia Spread? Pneumonia is contagious. When a person with Pneumonia coughs a mist of fluid flows through the air and can be breathed in by someone walking by. The mist of fluid will then travel down the throat, and into the lungs. Causing infection right away, and the person wouldn’t know until the last minute.

  5. Treatment For Pneumonia • Antibiotics can be taken to treat bacterial pneumonia but is defenseless against Viral pneumonia • Getting some rest, and eating as well. • Drinking plenty of fluids • Stronger antibiotics if patient isn’t responding to treatment and also some oxygen treatment to.

  6. How Many People Are Affected By Pneumonia? In the United States 3 million cases of Pneumonia is reported, 4 out of 100 people are kids, one-third are elderly people, and about each year 60,000 people die of the disease. A lot of children, and babies die of Pneumonia because they’re not treated properly. This mostly happens in the developing countries.
