Recent Experiences in Paediatrics That May Influence Future Training Needs • Journey to date in getting children with complex physical health care needs discharged and managed in the community setting • Ventilated teenagers now getting prepared to transition to adult services • Awareness of Hyponatraemia Risk in Children • Earlier discharge of Neonates into the community

Other Factors in Paediatrics That May Influence Future Training Needs • Difficulty in getting full allocation of doctors in training posts – Gaps in Rota • ‘Overdue But Welcome’ Paediatric Strategy • Extended Role of the Registered Nurse • Extended Role of the Health Care Assistant • Transforming Your Care (TYC)

  5. Other Considerations for the Future • HCA’s – Training to be accredited • ? Emergency Department / Theatres require alternative to RN (Child) qualification for their staff • Developing more nursing roles to support keeping children with long term conditions out of hospital
