Criminal Screening • Statistics • 8,433 checks (1 January to 31 May 2012) • An average of 77 Screening checks per day • 70% in each Batch are CLEARED in first instance • 30% of each Batch have a name match • Of this 30%, 3% have criminal history • E-mails……
Criminal Screening • Criminal Screening Process • Consent to Obtain Personal Information completed by the applicant • Application received by Screening Unit and checked (100 point ID, payment, questions, details etc) • Data is entered into Screening database • Each afternoon, that day’s applications are uploaded to CrimTrac in Canberra as a ‘Batch’ • CrimTrac sources info from National Names Database • Following morning, results are downloaded from CrimTrac
Criminal Screening • Criminal Screening Process (cont.) • Cleared applicants are issued a letter & SCN • Those not cleared remain with CrimTrac • CrimTrac liaises with State Police Jurisdictions • Daily checks by Screening Unit to see if Cleared
