Transforming Your Spiritual Wardrobe: Embrace Purity and Love
In 1 Peter 2:1-3, believers are encouraged to shed harmful behaviors like malice, deceit, and envy, much like removing old clothing. Through obedience to the truth, we can purify our hearts and cultivate sincere love for one another. The passage inspires a transformation not only in behavior but also in spiritual appetite—craving the pure milk of the Word for growth in salvation. By embodying these teachings, we shine as lights in the world, reflecting God’s glory. Embrace a new wardrobe of virtues, a healthier spiritual diet, and a renewed heart.

Getting A New Wardrobe 1 Peter 2:1-3
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. (1 Peter 2:1, NIV)
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. (1:22, NIV)
Sharing To be honest, I do not like NIV. For this verse, I actually prefer the translation by ESV.
Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincerebrotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart … (1:22-25, ESV)
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. (1 Peter 2:1, NIV)
So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. (1 Peter 2:1, ESV)
A New Appetite Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk … (2a, NIV)
The Result … so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. (2b-3)
