Sections Rebates and Reporting • For Sections to be eligible for a 2007 rebate; completed financial, meeting and current officer reports had to be received by 24 February 2007. • Units not reporting by 31 March 2006 will forfeit their rebate for 2007. • Summary of reported meetings for Sections/Chapters/Affinity Groups is viewable at: http://www.ieee.org/web/geo_activities/rab/scs/Required_Reporting/geo-unit-activity.html

  3. Sections Rebates and Reporting • Chapters are required to hold and report at least two Technical meetings per year • Affinity Groups are required to hold and report at least two meetings per year. • Units reporting less than two meetings per year are considered to be inactive for that year(s). • Units that have not reported meetings for 3 consecutive years may be considered for dissolution by the Region Director and appropriate Society President or Affinity Group parent.

Region 3 Awards • RAB Leadership Award - To recognize those individuals who have exhibited exemplary and substantive leadership of an extraordinary nature in implementing activities which support RAB goals and objectives at the local, regional, national and/or international • Charles Lord, Eastern North Carolina Section - “For continued contributions to encourage IEEE members’ development through the creation and utilization of innovative tools.”

  5. Region 3 Awards • Section Significant Anniversary Banner – To recognize a Section for outstanding longevity through continuity in member support and enthusiasm. • Central Georgia Section – 25 years (Formed 19-December-1982) • Tallahassee Area Section – 25 years (Formed 21-May-1982)

  7. Region 3 Membership Region 3 is the sixth largest IEEE region. At the end of February 2007, the Region had 25,681 total members: Region 3 represents 8.6% of IEEE’s total membership The Region has 21,562 Higher Grade Members and 4,119 Student Members. Membership in Region 3 is up by 2.1% from February 2006 Higher Grade membership is up by 0.6%, representing a gain of 137 members. Student membership is up by 10.5%, a gain of 391 students

  9. Region 3 Membership • Terminator • The Service Terminator ran at the end of February. This program placed all members who have not renewed their 2007 membership by that date into dues arrears, and all member services and benefits will cease. As of 31 January 2007, Region 3 had 31,235 members of which 7,167 members were terminated (includes affiliates). • Senior Member Elevations • There were 185 Region 3 Members elevated to Senior Member during 2006, which is 88.5% of the goal of 209 set by the Membership Development Committee for this Region. • In January 2007, 25 Members were elevated and in February, 17 Members were elevated. • The next Sr. Member Review Panel will be held in Raleigh, NC on Sunday, March 18, 2007.

Region 3 Membership • GOLD • Region 3 has GOLD Affinity Groups formed in the Alabama, Atlanta, Florida West Coast, Huntsville, Melbourne and Orlando Sections • Joey Duvall is continuing as the 2007 Region 3 GOLD Coordinator. She attended the GOLD Committee meeting held during 17-18 March 2007, in conjunction with the IEEE Student Activities Committee meeting in Boston.

Region 3 Membership • Mentoring • IEEE Mentoring Connection: The IEEE Mentoring Connection Program is looking for “online” mentors to help guide younger professionals in career planning and professional development. Currently, over 700 Mentees and 340 Mentors have registered to participate with over 119 active mentoring partnerships. Mentor participation is open to all IEEE members above the grade of Student Member. Over 60% of the Mentors reside within the United States. We are looking for additional IEEE members to participate as Mentors. • Interested members can visit http://www.ieee.org/mentoring for information on the roles and responsibilities of each mentoring partner, including additional program information and an FAQ page. Potential mentors are asked to review the time and effort commitment to the program necessary to ensure a successful mentoring partnership. Electronic Communications • IEEE e-Notice is an electronic newsletter subscription service that was created for IEEE organizational units to facilitate email distribution of newsletters and meeting notices. • The list creation and maintenance is handled through the IEEE Operations Center. New members are automatically added and members can unsubscribe from the list.   16. Electronic Communications • Entity Web Hosting • IEEE currently hosts over 1,280 organization unit websites through Entity Web Hosting (EWH). Posting units are responsible for site content, its maintenance and its conformance to IEEE policy. Organization units are expected to choose a single Webmaster who is skilled in managing web content. This Webmaster will be the entity contact and the only one authorized to post content to the website. The Webmaster will be expected to work with IEEE staff to insure that site security measures are effective. • The following units from Region 3 are individually hosted on EWH: • Council: Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia • Sections: Atlanta, Broward, Canaveral, Central Georgia, Central North Carolina, Central Savannah River, Central Tennessee, Central Virginia, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Coastal South Carolina, Columbia, Daytona, East Tennessee, Eastern North Carolina, Florida West Coast, Hampton Roads, Jacksonville, Jamaica, Lexington, Louisville, Melbourne, Memphis, Miami, Mississippi, Northwest Florida, Orlando, Palm Beach, Richmond, Savannah, Tallahassee, Virginia Mountain, Western North Carolina, Winston-Salem • Chapters: Jacksonville PE031/IA034

  17. Electronic Communications • SAMIEEE • Provides automatic access for many volunteers based on current officer positions. Potentially over 5,000 volunteers have access to the member data • To date over 300 volunteers have been trained to use the web based tool via Internet Conferencing. Training is not required for gaining access • With the introduction of the IEEE Business Management System this year, the tool will be changed to Siebel Analytics. User documentation and training schedules are being developed
