  4. Day in the life • In a little early • Check any problems from overnight • Prepare for the ward round • Ward round • Jobs • Interspersed teaching and the Mess  • On call – handover and look after whole hospital “You have a bruised rib”

  5. Can you prepare? • Yes! • Clinical placements – get stuck in • Ask to take your own patients • Practice prioritisation • Make your own clinical decisions • Request scans and make referrals/calls • Go on call with your F1/another doctor • Go on with outreach teams • Experience handovers
