LMWH Vs UFH during pregnancy RCOG Guideline • LMWHs are the agents of choice for antenatal thromboprophylaxis, these are at least as effective as and safer than UFH • Prolonged UFH use during pregnancy may result in osteoporosisand fractures but this risk is very low with LMWH. • The risk of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia is substantially lower with LMWH
