  1. LET Status report, December 13 Paul Lebrun Fermilab CD/AMR Global Design Effort

  2. Overview • Documenting DFS Steering in CHEF • I’ll put the note ( 38 pages) in DocDB, probably tomorrow. • Some highlights today.. • One slide on Cavity tilts on y’ • DFS steering with Ground motion. • Prelim. results on DFS-correcting cavity tilts. • ILC Lattice in CHEF: • Good LET performance if no misalignment, no anything bad.. => Tracking/matching resolved.

  3. Why Cavity tilts.. Sources of y’ Quadrupoles kicks Wakes Cavity tilts. Cavity tilts effect not negligible wrt quads. Wake small if trajectory off set is small.

  4. Why Cavity tilts.., 2nd Ratio of Dy’, Cav/Quad, from 24 consecutive cavities to one quadrupole. One dipole.. per 24 cavities! Distributed all along the LINAC… => No truly local solution!.

  5. Perfectly aligned cryomodules. For a wide range of DFS parameter, (DFS length, overlaps, Trajectory/Dispersion weight ratio,..) Got a good solution: No emittance growth.

  6. Perfectly aligned cryomodules. For a wide range of DFS parameter, (DFS length, overlaps, Trajectory/Dispersion wiehgt ratio,..) Got a good solution: Near straight trajectory. (~ 100 micron offsets).

  7. If Cavity Tilt correction possible. Either using addional dipole correctors, or Helium return pipe movers, or cavity movers. And (perhaps a lot more $$), control the gradient on per cryo-module basis ... Algorithm is a simple variant of DFS: tilt one cryo-module at a time until the apparent Dispersion vanishes.

  8. DFS with Tesla Lattice, Dynamic Noisy Ground motion model Beam Jitter turned off. (0.1 sigma worse than moderately quiet ground motion!) Manage to steer through 2 km of Linac, without loosing the game, with two macro-interation. DFS sections are not steered concurrently.

  10. Plans, Short term Finishing documenting DFS steering, cavity tilt relevance. Tomorrow ? Prepare talk for Daresbury meeting. (next year!) Keep running dynamical steering. Grids Dynamical Steering with ILC-ML Lattice, after tuning static tuning. Next year..
