  5. Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Aim: Provide relief for young youth Employed for $30 a month Participated in many conservation projects

  6. Leisure Unemployment had perverse affects Introduction of new leisure activities Examples: Sports, Reading, Games, entertainment etc.

  7. Unemployment also had Adverse effects Leisure activities against morale Examples : Gambling, drinking, loafing etc.

  8. clothing Two-thirds are poor people People wear dirty, torn and Shabby clothes due to Lack of money.

  9. Fashion concentrated on the Shoulder • Butterfly sleeves, banjo sleeves and Exaggerated Shoulder Pads. • Man-made fibers • Suntans became fashionable • Examples of Beach wear: White dinner jackets and beach pajamas.

  10. Food People roamed the streets in search of food. Volunteer organizations, service groups and church groups organized ‘soup kitchens’ Provide food for the Homeless and starving

  11. Federal programs called ‘New Deal’ Relief for farmers Southern plains called ‘Dust Bowls’ People died because of declined production
