  3. Plot! • Top 8 is about a teenage girl names Madison MacDonald who goes on vacation to the Galapagos islands for 14 days. Her life is perfect! She has a new boyfriend (of 17 days) and three best friends. When she was on vacation she didn’t bring her cell phone or laptop, because you wouldn’t be able to use them since there was no service there. When she gets back from the vacation, she gets on her Friendverse account and see’s that her account has been hacked! None of her friends believe her, and the hacker broke up with her new boyfriend over there wall post. Now she has to get her life back together, and try to find out who did this.

  4. Point of View • The point of view is from the main character Madison MacDonald.

  5. Conflict! • The conflict in the novel Top 8 is external and internal conflict. In Top 8 Madison MacDonald’s Friendverse profile was hacked, she spends a majority of the book trying to figure out who hacked her. Doing so caused plenty of external conflict along the way with many of her classmates. Also causing internal conflict because, she did say rude and hurtful things and she tries to figure out mentally when and why she said those things. • For example: • When Madison confronts Kittson(future junior prom queen) and Connor(lost the race for class secretary to Madison).

  8. Literary Devices • Foreshadowing • Saying Kittson is the “junior prom queen” when they haven’t been to prom yet, or voted. • Madison meets a boy named Nate in the Galapagos islands, later they become friends back in Connecticut. • Irony • It’s ironic that Madison met Nate in the Galapagos and then meets him again in Connecticut

  9. What I liked about Top 8! • It’s relatable. • It keeps you guessing. • It’s a book that you don’t want to put down! • It’s somewhat predictable • There’s a lot of characters • Lisa speaks some French in the book. (I don’t know French.) Positives Negatives

  10. I recommend this book to… • I recommend this book to any girls. This book isn’t really a book for boys. I think boys would get bored reading it.
