  4. Why Set Goals 90% OF PEOPLE WHO FEEL SUCCESSFUL SET GOALS. 90% OF PEOPLE WHO FEEL THEY HAVE FAILED DID NOT SET GOALS.

  5. Why Set Goals Because by setting goals you can:Achieve more with less stressImprove participationIncrease motivation to achieveImprove club’s self-confidenceServe our communities with a warmfuzzy feeling of pride and satisfaction.

  6. Why Set Goals Setting goals and targets allows you to:Choose where you want the club to go in your year.Concentrate on what you want to do.Focus your year for action.Organize your club’s resources.

  7. Why Set Goals Goal setting is a formal process for planning. Goal setting saves time when working out details for any event or activity. Goal setting makes the difference between mediocrity and excellence.Without goals you don't go anywhere.

  8. Setting Effective Goals Will motivate your club members. Will create a sense of ownership and generate interest. Will measure progress and create effective practices.

  9. Setting Effective Goals Be sure the goals you are formulating are something you really want, not just something that sounds good. Make sure your goals are high enough.

  10. Setting Effective Goals One goal may not contradict any of your other goals. Formulate your goals in a positive rather than a negative manner.

  14. Key Characteristics of an Effective Goal MEASURABLE: Describes your goal in terms that can clearly be evaluated. SHARED: Inform all concerned to get buy-in.

  16. Getting Started Your Chance to Dream Get ready to put ideas Into goals

  17. Getting Started Brainstorm with your club. Contact district leadership. Speak with community members. Assess the club’s current conditions. Consult with other clubs. Review the Hedke Award & Presidential Citation.

  18. Getting Started Develop a desire to achieve the goal.Write your goal down.Identify resources.Deadline your goal.Make a plan!Get a clear mental picture of the goal already accomplished.Back your plan with persistence and resolve.

  19. Getting Started Write down 10 things you want to accomplish with your Rotary Club in your year. Identify the 3 to 5 most important things and write them on your “Goal Card.” Refer to your “Goal Card” often and be ready to adapt goals as circumstances change. Instead of just wishing, ask yourself how and what you can do to make these things happen.

  25. Achieving Your Goal Having set sharp, clearly defined goals, you can take pride in the completed achievements. The process of achieving goals gives your club confidence that the club will be able to achieve even higher and more challenging goals.

  26. Achieving Your Goal Develop action steps. Determine who is responsible for each task. Establish a timeline. Determine criteria for measuring progress. Use resources and tools. Motivate committee or person. Evaluate progress and learn from experience.

  27. Achieving Your Goal If you achieved the goal too easily, make your next goals harder. If the goal took a long time to achieve, make the next goals a little easier. If you learned something that would lead you to change other goals, do so. Share your goals with other Rotary Clubs.

  28. Celebrate Your Goal Achievements When you have achieved a goal, take the time to enjoy the satisfaction of having done so. If the goal was a significant one, reward your club appropriately.

  29. Celebrate Your Goal Achievements Research has shown that people who use goal setting effectively: Suffer less from stress and anxiety. Concentrate better. Show more self-confidence. Perform better. Are happier and more satisfied. Save time in their busy lives.

  30. GOAL SETTING JUST DO IT! What goal are you going to set today?What goals can you set for your Rotary year which will lift your club to new levels?Take some time this week-end and THINK about it!THEN - JUST DO IT!
