  2. DO NOW! Monday, December 9, 2013 • In your scientific journal, answer the following question. • What can you tell from each word of an air mass’s name? • Continental • Maritime • Polar • Tropical You have ten minutes to answer this question.

  3. DO NOW ANSWERS The first word of naming an air mass describes the moisture of the air mass and where it was formed. • Continental air masses form over land. Air becomes dry as it loses its moisture to the dry land below it. • Maritime air masses form over water. Air becomes moist as it gains water vapor from the water below it. The second word of naming an air mass describes the air mass’s temperature. Tropical air masses form near the equator. Air becomes warm as it gains e energy from the warm land or water. Polar air masses form far from the equator. Air becomes cold as it loses energy to the cold land or water.

  4. Test Corrections. Please get a text book and gather your notes and review sheet to make the test corrections. While you are making test corrections, I will come around with instructions on how you are to proceed with an assignment once you have completed your test correction.

Write this question in your journal What do you think? Please write the two questions below and answer them in your journal. • What happened when you placed the egg back on top of the bottle? • What can your observations tell you about the air in the bottle?

  7. Exit Ticket • Summarize the way water moves in the water cycle. For each part of the cycle, specify whether water exits as a gas, liquid, or solid. • Key vocabulary words to use when answering this question: • Evaporation • Condensation • Precipatation.
