Tribal Population of India 8.43 crores (2001 census of India) 8.2 % of the total population 700 Scheduled Tribes 33 tribes inhabit state of Andhra Pradesh Andh, Bagata, Bhil, Gond, Porja, Lambadis, Valmiki, Koya, Kotia, Jatapus, Konda Doras etc Illiterate, Innocent, Poor, easily taken advantage of, Ignorant Access to valuable forest produce, fresh and cheap commodities

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY  To Study the Demand-Supply of commodities in tribal markets. To explore the needs of tribal people with reference to commodities To record the experiences of tribal people regarding perceptions of present tribal markets and expectations of future markets. • To study aspects such as barter system, role of middlemen & others, typical to tribal markets and assess their impact.
