  4. Your personal brand • How does the world KNOW you?

  5. Identify your brand • Who do you want people to know you as? Researcher, student, developer, manager, entrepreneur, mentor, author, activist …

  6. Identify 5 traits • What five traits align with how you want to be known?

  7. Driving forward • Take the wheel. • Be strategic. • Positioning. • Be unique.

  8. Where are you now? Work FAST! • Give your neighbor your business card. (Or name and affiliation.) • Web search your neighbor. • Write down 5 things you identify (positive and negative – both are useful!) • Swap back!

  9. Reality vs Perception Tell us: • Did the traits you want to show reflect in your neighbor’s findings? • What did you learn from searching someone else?

  16. Twitter • Craft your followers. • Engage in chats (#phdchat, #edchat). • Share, reply, RT, broadcast. • Set up your cellphone to get @s, DMs directly, and reply promptly. • 135K new accounts each day.
