  2. MISSION To set up SUMA in Freeport and commence with training of individuals I am able to report that under Chief Petty Officer Mackey ’s able and diligent command the mission was accomplished.

  4. The SUMA Team • The SUMA Powerpoint Describes: • Central Level • Coordinator • Consultation team • Field Units • 2 operators per unit • Warehouse Unit • A warehouse responsible • 2 operators

  5. Suma System Grand Bahama Setup • Training of 7 civilian and 6 RBDF officers at the Field Unit and 3 civilians at Central Unit was commenced • Central Unit was established at the Police Station Command Center with A coordinator And ancillary staff 3.

  6. Suma System Grand Bahama Setup 3 Field Units were established with SUMA trained individuals donated computers without printers ; 1.West End – Sandra Smith 2.Harbor Port- Bridgette Curtis 3.Sir Jack Haywood H. S. – Melvern Symonnette

IMMEDIATE RECOMMENDATIONS • To provide communication for RBDF • To assure the continuity of transportation to collect goods from Field Units to deliver to Distribution Center • To deploy additional Social Workers to Complete the Assessments • To provide formal SUMA training for individuals now posted in Grand Bahama

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE DEPLOYMENT To improve the logistical setup for NEMA To deploy a SUMA team of at least 5 with adequate supplies • To commence manual system until computer system set up • Laptops vs Desktops and printers • Office supplies, paper, diskettes, ZIP drive To deploy RBDF with all supplies • Transportation for officers and items • Communication-phones, hand held radios • Cooking utensils & Food supplies To deploy more support staff for social services 1. To assist with the demand of providing assessments of needs 2. Managing distribution centers and 3. To allow them to meeting their own personal needs

  11. Further Recommendations • Continual Technical Support • Development of the SUMA System to provide financial reports. • Development of Training Course in Logistical Management Teams for Disaster Management • Development of Communication Protocols in Disaster Management.

  12. Reporting Recommendation • Development & Training in Manual Reporting Formats That would be necessary for ECLAC • Training for the SUMA Personnel in the Microsoft Interface program for the development of reporting documents & financial reporting documents.
