  3. Occupation • British still have forts and troops on our soil in the northwest

  4. Native Problems • British supplying Native Americans and encouraging them to war against the us (Tecumseh)

  5. Nationalism • Growing national pride many Americans tired of Britain’s lack of respect

  6. Expansion • some Americans see war with Britain as a way to take over Canada

  7. War Declare June 1812 • Lasted 32 months • US vs Britain • President James Madison vs Prime Minister Liverpool • Capital in DC was burned • “Second war for Independence”
