  3. Mission • To create a forum for all Huntsville City Schools stakeholders to share ideas and concepts for enhancing school safety and parent accountability

  4. Concept • HCS Staff leads school safety engagement forums to generate initial ideas and concepts for review and analysis • HCS Staff designs conversations around topic areas that group ideas under general themes: • Parent involvement and accountability • School security measures • Government initiatives (Local/State/Federal) • Awareness • HCS Staff pairs senior leaders with Campus Security Officer (CSO) Supervisors to facilitate discussion • School safety engagement forums will be active environments for positive exchange of ideas and productive work toward actionable goals and objectives

Process • School safety engagement forums • District consolidation of community input • Selection of Task Force members • Task Force review of community input • Task Force presentation of recommendations • Superintendent collaborates with Task Force to find opportunities for implementing school security and parent accountability enhancements • Periodic assessment and review

Timeline • School safety engagement forums: Oct. 1, 2, 3, 15, 17 • District consolidation of community input: Nov. 1 • Selection of Task Force members: Nov. 1-30 • Task Force review of community input: Dec. – Feb. • Task Force presentation of recommendations to Superintendent and District Leaders: Feb. 20 • Superintendent presents Task Force Update to the Board and prepare implementation plan: March 7 • Periodic assessment and review: ongoing

School Safety Engagement Forums • Participants will divide into small groups for focused work under the guidance of HCS Staff, then share input • 5 meetings, 1 per feeder pattern • District 5: Monday Oct. 1, 2018 @ CHS (5:30pm – 7:00pm) • District 3: Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018 @ GHS (5:30pm – 7:00pm) • District 1: Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018 @ JHS (5:30pm – 7:00pm) • District 2: Monday, Oct. 15, 2018 @ LHS (5:30pm – 7:00pm) • District 4: Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 @ HHS (5:30pm – 7:00pm) • All forums will take place in the High School Cafeterias with the exception of HHS, which will be held in the Freshman Academy Cafetorium
