Introduction and Objectives • Project Goal: Develop a management tool that minimizes impacts on native species • Toxicity: Depends on A-D-M-E • Objective: Identify weak points in biology/physiology • Planktivory and stomachless • Gill morphology, digestive enzymes, enteric microbiota • Pharmacokinetics • Detoxification enzymes

  4. Current Knowledge • Digestive Physiology • Graduate student (gill morphology) • Sampled August and September 2011 • Methods developed • 19 digestive enzymes • Compared SC, GS and BMB • Some Findings: Elevated phosphatases, trypsin and lacking β-glucoronidase

Current Knowledge (continued) • Pharmacokinetics • Completed preliminary study • Rotenone (silvers -vs- bigheads) • Developed qPCR assays • 13 genes (ETC, detox., O2 stress) • Developed methodology to quantify rotenone in plasma • Performed full exposure study • Rotenone (silver carp -vs- bigmouth buffalo) • Determined target concentration of rotenone in plasma
