The Migrating Desktop is an advanced, user-friendly Java application supporting grid interactive applications across various hardware and operating systems. Current status Migrating Desktop • Migrating Desktop tutorial held on the first day of kick-off meeting • Migrating Desktop is at the moment operational with the functionality done under CrossGrid project • Migrating Desktop software based on LCG2.4. Upgrade to LCG2.6 as the first step, then to gLite platform • Jobs can be send to LCG2.4,LCG2.6 or gLite as shown during tutorial • Migrating Desktop can support: • Batch jobs and applications, sequential or MPI (MPICH-G2 and P4) • Interactive and semi-interactive jobs and application support (complementary to EGEE!!!) • Java Plugins for interactive job control • VNC for applications that cannot be ported to MD plugin
Application support plans Migrating Desktop • Plans for the first year: • gathering requirements from Baltic Grid applications • investigation of changes required for integration with NA3 applications • supporting the integration of the selected applications with the Migrating Desktop for accessing and using Grid infrastructure, • preparing pilot installation based on selected application and available Grid infrastructure • ensuring interoperability with the evolving EGEE middleware and other middlewares that may be supported on the Baltic Grid during this project
