  2. NABS helps people of ages become well rounded • How did the name come about? • Brings an array of people together • Networking opportunities

  3. The name came about to enforce positivity and creativity in the black community. • Sterotypes • Over 2,000 members and counting • Not many positive re-enforcements in the black community • Teaches them more about the African/Black American cultures

NABS brings all types of people together • “Our membership is open to anyone regardless of race, color, gender, handicap, or diving agency affiliation.” (http://www.nabsdivers.org/) • Do not have to be a diver • “The most exciting part of NABS for me is 2 fold. Through NABS I have made lifelong friends, friends that I would have never met if not for this wonderful sport of scuba diving. I have gone to places that I would have never gone to if not for scuba diving. The other most filling part is watching the NABS youth grow up. Students like you we have become Marine Biologist, Journalists, Lawyers, Teachers, etc.” From former Youth Committee Chair, Kenneth Stewart.

  5. NABS provides networking opportunities • Works closely with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) • The youth also do lots of volunteer work around the country. • Beach cleanup, marsh restoration, water sampling
