ANDRES TIJERINA, JAIME BEAMAN, RICHARD P. SANCHEZ, HOMERO VERA, AND RENATO RAMIREZ • ENLISTED REP. KINO FLORES TO PASS FIRST BILL THROUGH LEGISLATURE IN 2001—DID NOT SPECIFY LOCATION OR PROVIDE FUNDING. • ENLISTED SENATOR ZAFFIRINNI AND PASSED BILL IN 2007 WHICH PROVIDED LIMITED FUNDING—DID NOT SPECIFY LOCATION.

  20. TASKS AHEAD • ON FEBRUARY 27, GRANITE WAS TAKEN TO SITE. • STATUES HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO AUSTIN • PLAQUES HAVE BEEN CAST AND AFIXED TO PEDESTALS • RAILING HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED • FIRST THREE WEEKS IN MARCH WILL BE CRUCIAL IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS MONUMENT.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM • WALMART FUNDED AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS, AUSTIN ISD, THE MEXICAN AMERICAN CULTURAL CENTER TO DEVELOP EDUCATIONAL MODULES BEING IMPLEMENTED AT AUSTIN ISD THIS SEMESTER • EXPECTATION THAT MODULES WILL BE EXPANDED TO OTHER UNIVERSITIES AND OTHER ISD’S THROUGHOUT TEXAS
