  2. Childhood Obesity and Diabetes in Children Carbohydrate Counting Registration fee is $6.50 to cover lunch expenses. A continental breakfast and lunch will be served. Please mail registration and fees by April 12, 2007. Checks should be made payable to FWCS Presenter: Kandi Dawson Presenter: Dr. Pamela Thomas M.D. Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Specialist Kandi Dawson, RD, CD, CDE is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a BS degree in Dietetics. In her 25 years as a dietitian she has worked in a large variety of health care settings, holding hospital nutrition director and manager positions, while always keeping her hands in clinical work. Her passion in the field of nutrition comes from two periods in her career when she worked in outpatient clinics for people with diabetes. Dr. Thomas is a pediatric endocrinology and diabetes specialist. She is a graduate of Michigan State University and Wayne State University. Her post doctoral training in pediatrics and endocrinology includes Johns Hopkins Hospital and The National Institute of Health, Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Thomas has been an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (division of Pediatric Endocrinology ) and Director of the Pediatric Diabetes Program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor before starting her practice here in Fort Wayne. Dr. Thomas is the only Pediatric Endocrinologist located in NE Indiana and sees many of our students with diabetes living in Allen and surrounding counties. Dr. Thomas will share information on Childhood Obesity, and Diabetes Care for Children.
