  1. value of a college education Essay example Value Of A College Education According to Lundberg (2003), "adult students are one of the most rapidly growing segments of today's college student population, making up approximately 40% of all college students" (665). Having a college education is an important tool that contributes to several aspects of a person's life. The areas that are impacted the most would be the professional and personal areas. It is important to learn the value of a college education in order to take advantage of what you learn and how to productively apply it in your personal and professional life. Having a college education is something that can always be looked at as a positive achievement that feels good and looks good on a resume. Earning a college degree...show more content... The educational experience helps in this development by presenting students with many challenges, choices, and obstacles along the way. A college degree is a huge accomplishment and most companies know that intense work and dedication was put into earning that degree. Employers also know that college graduates are taught to express their thoughts clearly in speech and in writing and to make informed decisions. That is why most college graduates are viewed as professionals upon entering an organization. Personal Aspects The value of a college education also shows in the personal aspects of an individual's life. Some very important values are developed while attending college. Some of these values include maturity, individuality, work ethics, time–management skills, and a sense of personal accomplishment. Having these values instilled will help to mold the type of person you will be in your professional life and in your personal life with friends, family, and most importantly, with yourself. Importance      I believe that a college education helps to develop maturity. Although this can really depend on the individual and at what point in their life they are attending college. I realize that I will need to work hard and prioritize in college in order to gain the most out of my time and the money invested. I have been in the business world for some time now and have realized that in order to move ahead ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  2. Trade School Vs. College Essay Trade School vs. College People are told from a young age that the only way to lead a successful life is to go to college. Although there is no denying of the economic advantage post secondary learning can provide for a student, college isn't necessarily the only available option. Options like trade school or vocational training are other reasonable choices. However, trade school is not seen as legitimate as a traditional four year college, and a trade school student is not seen as having a secure future. The majority of people fail to realize there are hundreds of well paying employment opportunities that do not require the time, money, and effort needed to get a college degree. Not only does the negative perception of trade school hurt the futures of students, it ultimately hurts the nation's economy. In order to eliminate the stigma surrounding non traditional schools, students and parents should be exposed to trade schools and the benefits of pursuing a vocational career. Trade schools, vocational schools, and technical schools are all educational institutions that teach skills related to a specific job (Hamm). Some schools provide education as that provided at other colleges and universities. Many schools specialize in particular lines of work that range from broadcasting to beauty. The skills acquired in trade schools are sometimes referred to as middle skills and are seeked out by employers and jobs that require more education than a high school diploma, but less ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  3. The Case Against College College is an idea that many people talk about, but is college really meant for everyone? In her essay "The Value of a College Degree," Kathrine Porter attempts to persuade the audience of the benefits of having a "higher education," while on the other hand, the author of "The Case against College," Linda Lee says from her experience college is not for everyone. Both Lee and Porter have great arguments, but Lee's argument that college is not for everyone is slightly more compelling. There are many different jobs that do not need a college degree, and allow an individual to live a semi normal life. For example, Lee's son does not have a college, but he is doing just fine in life. Lee's son's name is not mentioned in her essay, but what she does say about him is that he works for a telecommunications company and he loves his job. In fact, he loves it so much that he told Lee that he "plans to stay there and become a manager" (395). In addition, Lee mentions that her "hair colorist makes $300,000 a year with a college degree" (394). This is one of the special occasions where a person without a college degree makes that much money. But this example does show that an individual does not always need a higher education to make a decent amount of money. These are just two people out of the millions of individuals out there who do not need a college degree of to make a living in life. Porter does not give her audience an estimation of how much a person with a higher education ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...
