  2. What is Surface Area? • The sum of the areas of all the surfaces of a solid figure

  3. What is a Rectangular Prism? • It is a space figure. • Its bases are rectangular, congruent, and in parallel planes. • The other faces are all rectangles. • It is a box.

  4. Rectangular Prism • This is the rectangular prism we analyzed. • It is a cereal box from our kitchen. • It has six rectangular faces. • It stands tall.

  5. a Area of Face A • To find the area of a rectangle, multiply its length and width. • The area of face a is 6.5 x 9.5 = 61.75 sq. in. • The face opposite a has the same area. 9.5 in 6.5 in
