  1. TRAINING SESSION 7Wednesday, November 14 Flash Ads - Cal/Odona

  2. Flash Ads • Ads that are created in flash. Normally these are animated. • .fla – Source file (e.g. “Beyblade.Box.fla”) • Like a Word document, changes can be made with a .fla file • DO NOT provide to clients unless they’ve paid for it • .swf – File to provide (e.g. “Beyblade.Box.swf”) • Like a PDF document, changes cannot be made with a .swf

  3. Process To Create Flash Ads • Ideally, when client feedback is received for the site mock up, designs of the ad concepts can begin • Once the ad concepts are signed off, the ad build in flash starts • There could be 1 designer for the first part and another for the second.

  4. Flash Ads For Review • To send the ads for review: • Grab all files from the designer and copy to the Shared drive • Ask Andrew to put the ads on a page. Provide him with the folder information and exact name of ads • Andrew will send you a url; send this around for review

  5. Helios • Helios is the system used by Ad Operations to traffick online ads • Communication on details of ads is through Fogbugz – Start and End dates, urls, ad creative, etc. • Types of ad files to upload to Fogbugz • Static ads – jpgs • Animated – swfs, gifs, or eyeReturn code/tags

  6. Ad Tag And CT Codes • Ads will run through Helios only if there are ad tags on the site • Helios can track clicks only if there are ad tags on the site • Basic ad types run through Helios – Leaderboards, box ads, certain badges • Any ads not running through Helios will need to be hard-coded • Ask for a “Click-thru (CT) link” on Fogbugz • Send the ad and the CT link to the site producer with the start and end dates

  7. EyeReturn • Third party vendor who provides ad tags (code) • Corus uses them for very customized ads, catfish ads, vokens/over the page (OTP), expandables • To get code: • Ideally a week before launch, send this information to Kevin Williams – swf and fla files, url, flight period, total impressions, where the ads run • Include Cal on the emails

  8. EyeReturn • When you get the code (it will be an attached file) • Save to the Shared drive • Send to Ad Ops via Fogbugz

  9. Tracking • Clicks should be tracked with each ad • E.g. “For the Beybladeleaderboard, there were 323 clicks” • More customized ones e.g. video are usually tracked through eyeReturn
