ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS • High levels of support and turnout for recommended candidates among all voters in NEA households. • Highly-visible NEA presence on the campaign trail. • Improved Member volunteer tracking systems • Increased affiliate capacity: • Significant member to member involvement • Mobilize members at school buildings • Increased involvement of UniServ staff in campaign activities • Increase number of recurring PAC donors

NEA Central Operations • All Fifty States • Online access to state voter file data through Catalist. • Matching of member data to voter files. • NCEC precinct-level performance data. • Dedicated national political website with relevant content on NEA issues. • Building flyers for ESP’s, Teachers, Higher Ed • Professional campaign research on Presidential nominees

  12. Objective: find and motivate persuadable members, touch base with supporters and ignore opponents. • Models: Candidate support, Partisanship, Turnout Propensity

NEA Central Operations • Targeted States • Polling of members and other voters in NEA households. • Microtargeting data to help identify persuadable voters and turnout targets. • Online tools for tracking member involvement and generating campaign materials. • -Expert consultant teams on member communications (polling, mail, message, targeting)

  14. NEA Central Operations • Targeted States • A paid voter contact program that integrates direct mail, phone, and email communications to members and other voters in NEA households. • On-site organizers to assist with member mobilization programs.

Planning Assumptions • Our program will be: • Data Driven: Targeting and voter contact plans will be based on research. • Flexible: We will need to shift resources away from races that are no longer competitive to help win campaigns that break late. • Collaborative: NEA, state affiliates, and consultant teams will work together, not in isolation, to accomplish campaign goals.

  16. TIMELINE • November to Mid-February: Planning phase • Staffing, program strategy, resources • Mid-February: The nominee is chosen. Immediate communication to members. Initial surveying of members begins. • March: Communications to members at buildings about candidates and issues. National Action Day.

  17. TIMELINE • April/May: On-going communication. Recruitment for NEA Summer Program. • June – August: NEA Summer Organizers mobilize members and voters. • Post Labor Day: On-going volunteering, member road trips to battleground states.
