Mechanical structure needed

Two options: either the ring is attached to the barrel or to the endcaps.

The first option is more appropriate from the mechanical point of view but it is probably less adequate for inner detector services.

Each of the 5 sectors of the barrel will be

built in horizontally

Then using appropriate tooling, wheels will be put

vertically and mounted on the insertion machine

ENDCAPs

The same strategy as for the barrel can be

followed. One possible scenario is to build the

4 quarters separately before to mount them on

the insertion machine

Service cabling will be performed on the insertion

machine.

The best scenario is to perform the mounting in two

steps for the barrel: 2+3 wheels

The insertion machine should have a rotating movement so

the cassettes insertion and cabling can be done easily:

from the outer radius for both barrel and endcaps.

effect on the endcaps is to be taken into account (learning from CMS)

propose a robust mechanical structure and a

realistic integration scheme taking into account the

CMS experience.

  • A lot of work still to be done for the ENDCAPS
  • The services cables of SDHCAL has almost

no consequence on the ILD simulation
