  3. Purpose of Certification • Improve the profession and the practice. • Create standard and well defined body of knowledge and capabilities to be mastered by persons practicing the profession. • Basis for progressing in the field or profession. • Basis for promotion

  4. Benefit of Certification The Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professional survey indicated the benefits are: • Clear direction for career development. • Improved visibility and recognition within your organization • Differentiated pay scale

  6. Certification Organization • American Society of Quality Control (ASQC) (15 certification) • Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals. • Association of Facilities Engineering

  7. Existing Certifications • Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE). • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP). • Certified Plant Maintenance Manager (CPMM). • Certified Plant Supervisor (CMS). • Certified Plant Engineer (CPE).

  8. Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) • Offered by ASQC : The Certified Reliability Engineer is a professional who understands the principles of performance evaluation and prediction to improve product/systems safety, reliability and maintainability. • Prerequisite: Eight years of on-the-job experience in one or more of the areas of the Certified Reliability Engineer Body of Knowledge. A minimum of three years of this experience must be in a decision-making position

Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) The body of knowledge (BOK) include: • Design review and control • Estimation and prediction. • Failure mode effects and analysis • Planning, operation and analysis of reliability testing • Human factors in reliability • Reliability information systems for failure analysis. • For more see: http://www.asq.org

Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) • CMRP is offered by SMRPs and recertification every three years. • No prerequisites. • BOK includes: • Business and management. • Manufacturing process reliability. • Equipment reliability. • People skills. • Work management. • Details at : www.smrp.org

  11. Certified Plant Maintenance Manager (CPMM) • CPMM offered by the Association for Facilities Engineering ( The American Institute of Plant Engineers) with three year recertification. • No degree requirement two years of experience in maintenance management. 5 credit for recertification.
