  1. 5 Useful Tips to Make Math Easy for Kids

  2. Parents are a child’s first teachers, so how you approach math is important. 1) Play Math Games at Home ▪ There are many games your child can play that involve math. Beginning in the elementary years, students can learn to enjoy math by playing games. ▪ Use digital games, apps and the numerous websites available or encourage your child to play card and board games that involve calculations. 2) Make Math Part of Everyday Life ▪ Encourage your child to solve problems involving math outside of school. ▪ For e.g.: In the grocery store, ask your child to count the bananas in a bunch or in the toy store, ask them to calculate the price of a discounted toy. 3) Familiarize Yourself with Learning Standards ▪ It’s important to know what math skills are included in your child’s current grade curriculum. If you know what your child will be learning, it will be easier to complement those skills with activities at home. ▪ Also it’s essential to start young. Toddlers are ready to begin the essentials of math because their brain is developmentally ready for it.

  3. 4) Give Your Child an Allowance ▪ Regardless of a child’s age, a small defined allowance for certain chores will begin their understanding of money and math. Have them save their allowance money in a jar or piggy bank each week. 5) Learn About Famous Mathematicians or Read Books ▪ Teach your kids fun facts about famous mathematicians. Depending on the age of your children, you might watch movies together, read books or research online.
