  1.  They say that books are your best friends and never let you down. So when your child ventures out to pick his/her best friends, make sure you don’t guard him/her or pour in your suggestions because this might mean intruding into your child’s space which won’t have pleasing results. Should parents encourage reading habits in children? • Parents must inculcate the habit of reading for it is a lifelong skill that increases: • Attention span • Develops vocabulary • Promotes analytical thinking How to make your child fall in love with reading? • Start early for a favorable response and to do that read loudly, keep books at home that are within the reach of children and let your child pick what he/she wants.

When you give freedom to your child to choose the books he/she wants to read, you let their: • Self-esteem grows by instilling in them the confidence of taking risks and being independent. • Critical abilities develop since every child has his/her favorite character and to make a child engrossed in the book you need to give them the freedom to read what they want to read. • Reading abilities develop because choosing the books independently means browsing through the pages, analyzing pictures and reading words. Kids will learn the importance of grammatically correct sentences and how these need to be framed. • Decision-making abilities stretch because they know the best ones to select from the pile that meets their interests. • Creativity reaches new heights and who knows your child might pen down the bestseller in the years to come.
