Daycare Surrey- The Importance of Routine

A daycare center does more than just keep kids busy. Daycare is like a practice for kindergarten, and the skills children learn in daycare are life skills they will be using throughout their lives. Not only that, but the structure a routine provides is essential to their developing brains so scheduling is important well passed infancy.

  1. Daycare Surrey- The Importance of Routine

  2. A daycare center does more than just keep kids busy. Daycare is like a practice for kindergarten, and the skills children learn in daycare are life skills they will be using throughout their lives. Not only that, but the structure a routine provides is essential to their developing brains so scheduling is important well passed infancy. 02

  3. Routines Make Kids Feel Safe Time spent away from home and parents can be scary for little ones and can ease that anxiety. The structure provides a sense of security and normalcy especially important as they are getting used to the unfamiliar environment of daycare. Front loading is also important and daycares will often give kids plenty of warning time before transitioning by using visual aids like countdown timers and clocks. 02

  4. Routines Help Kids Learn to Manage Their Time Structured routines can help teach kids how to manage their time- a skill that will trickle down and help them become better time managers at home and eventually at school. Considering how many adults out there are poor time managers so it’s easy to see why there’s no point in delaying learning this life skill. 02

  5. Fostering Independence In addition to teaching kids, the value of caring for their things, taking on these little responsibilities for their belonging is empowering. As they grow, they can feel confident taking on more responsibility. Additionally, including the time that’s blocked off for ‘free play’ at daycare can be a great way to feed that sense of independence by giving kids the power to choose how they want to spend their time. 02

  6. Helps Them Become Better Communicators Circle time happens in the late morning and consists of all the children sitting together with daycare staff to talk and go over the shape of the day. Sometimes there might be a group song, story time, or an opportunity for kids to share and ask questions. Circle time not only prepares kids for what the day ahead holds, but it also helps them learn how to speak to others, how to listen generally, and only let one person talk at a time in the circle. 02
