  1. Pr 3:1 ¶ My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; 2 For length of days and long life and peace they will add to you. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, 4 And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

  2. 7 ¶ Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones. 9 Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine. 11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor detest His correction; 12 For whom the LORD loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

  3. 13 ¶ Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; 14 For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor. 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who retain her.

  4. 1Jo 3:23 ¶ And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. 24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. Jn 13:35 "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

  5. OR a case of HOLY HEARTBURN

  6. Lu 24: 13 ¶ Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem. 14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened. 15 So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. 16 But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him. 17 And He said to them, "What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?” 18 Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, "Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which happened there in these days?“ 19 And He said to them, "What things?" So they said to Him, "The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,

  7. 20 "and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and crucified Him. 21"But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened. 22"Yes, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us. 23"When they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive. 24"And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but Him they did not see.“ 25 Then He said to them, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! 26"Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?“ 27And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

  8. 28 Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther. 29But they constrained Him, saying, "Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent." And He went in to stay with them. 30Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.31Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. 32And they said to one another, "Did not our hearts burn within uswhile He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?“ 33So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, 34saying, "The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon! “ 35And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread.

So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, 34 saying, "The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon! “ 35 And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking bread • Jer 20:9 Then I said, "I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name." But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not. • 1Th 1:8 For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything.

  12. Conclusion Do you have a case of “holy heartburn”? Have you ever had a case of “holy heartburn”? Illustration of “holy heartburn” in a new believer. Ac 19:18 And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds. 19Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver.

  13. Lu 24:32 And they said to one another, "Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?" We need to learn this secret of the burning heart. Suddenly Jesus appears to us, the fires are kindled, we have wonderful visions, then we have to learn to keep the secret of the burning heart that will go through anything. Perseverance is more than just hanging on. It is the dull, simple, monotonous, commonplace day, with commonplace duties and people, that kill the burning heart unless we have learned the secret of abiding in Jesus.

  14. Examples • Ac 4:18 And they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. • 19But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. 20 "For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." • Ac 19:18 And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds. 19Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.
