  1. LHC Collaboration Meeting @ FNALFebruary 24, 2004T. Page - Fermilab

  2. Interconnect Status • Piping and bellows • Beam tube drift tubes • Pipe supports • TAS absorber • Shields • MLI • Vacuum shells • Q1 IP end • Q3-DFBX • Misc. T. Page

  3. Piping and bellows • Q1-Q2 interconnect: All parts in stock; parts need to be sent to weld shop for final assembly. Expected completion date: May 2004. • Q2-Q3 interconnect: Bellows and flanges in stock, pipes are being cut at the machine shop. Once complete, parts will be sent to weld shop for final assembly. Expected completion date: June 2004. T. Page

  4. Drift tubes • 316LN material is on order, due at the end of February. • Material will be sent to vendor after acceptance at FNAL. • Vendor will fabricate flanges and cooling jacket. • Final assemblies to be welded at FNAL weld shop. • Beam tube sections to be cut and swaged at FNAL; still need approximately 13 m of uninsulated beam tube. T. Page

  5. Pipe supports • Pipe supports in stock. • Modifications needed for: • TAS clearance • Holes for beam tube support bracket • Parts will be revised when the TAS design is complete. T. Page

  6. TAS absorber • Conceptual design complete. • Designer (Simmie) will begin work on the TAS design details in March 2004. • Design should take approximately 2 months to complete. • Parts arrive at FNAL by September / October 2004. T. Page

  7. Shields • Shields have been revised but haven’t been ordered. • Orders are being worked on now and should go out by mid March 2004. • Parts expected July 2004. T. Page

  8. MLI • Q1-Q2 and Q2-Q3 interconnect blankets have been ordered. • Blankets are due at the end of February 2004. T. Page

  9. Vacuum shells • Shells have been revised but haven’t been ordered. • Orders are being worked on now and should go out by mid March 2004. • Parts expected July 2004. T. Page

  10. Q1 IP end • Shields are on order. 1st assembly has been received. The remaining are expected in the next two weeks. • Modifications are needed on the shield end plate. This will be done at FNAL. This is to match the interface specification for the Q1 CWT. • Vacuum vessel end domes are in QC. • MLI is being released this week. Will be ordered with the Q3-DFBX MLI. T. Page

  11. Q1 IP end (cont.) • Thermometers, connectors and copper strap details need to be completed. • Helium guard conceptual design has been complete. Designer (Simmie) will start working on the details after the TAS design is complete. • Design completion: September 2004. • Parts arrive at FNAL: January 2005. T. Page

  12. Q1 IP end (cont.) T. Page

  13. Q3-DFBX • Shield design is almost complete, connection to the DFBX needs to be finalized. • MLI design complete, can be released by the end of March. T. Page

  14. Miscellaneous • Q1-Q2 heater and thermometers. • Concept discussed, design work has not started. • Interconnect assembly travelers. T. Page

  15. Summary • Major Items to be completed • TAS absorber • Helium guard • Q1 IP end heaters and thermometers • Q1-Q2 heater and thermometers • Interconnect assembly travelers and associated drawings. T. Page
