History • Founded in 1975 at Purdue University • ‘The Chicago Six’ • First National Conference held at Purdue- Attended by 48 students from 32 schools- National Symbol chosen- Rough draft of First Constitution created- Organization divided into 6 regions- Name ‘National Society of Black Engineers’ selected • Incorporated in 1976 as a 501c (3)
