  1. Mainz contributions Update Aug. 2001 • New Group members since last meeting: • - Ulla Blumenschein • - Carsten Nöding • Marc continues to work on the LArg-calorimeter • calibration controls and electron ID • The LArg Purity & Temperature monitoring is • operational, but the GUIs for shifters are still • missing (David & Christian) • Volker is the co-covenor of the em-ID group • David has continued the work on the Jet-energy scale • Carsten started to work @FNAL on Level-1 trigger • firmware for the FPGAs in July

  2. y y g g h k x x x x jets Jet Energy Scale (JES) • Brief overview • Use Gamma + Jet(s) to obtain correct Jet scale • Assume correct em-scale • Balance pt of gamma against jets • Fit energy scale in bins of Ejet and  • Advantages (compared to old method) • High statistics (not limited to Gamma+1Jet events) • Each event enters directly into the fit • => possibly a better energy resolution

  3. uncorrected corrected (Fit) Some Results (very preliminary) Jet energy resolution

  4. Z-mass reconstruction Z-> qq events • After calibration of the jet energy scale: • Mass is about right: 93 GeV • Resolution about 14 GeV • => still some open question to answer and optimizations • to be done
