  3. Consultation • Luas Users Group – LUG meets quarterly, chaired by RPA • PTAC – chaired by DoT, meets quarterly, RPA attend • Metro Accessibility Group – MAG, initial meting held, will be held as frequently as required, more frequently initially.

Luas Background • From its commencement in June 2004, Luas has been providing highly accessible services • All new Luas lines planned under Transport 21 and new rolling stock will be designed from the outset to provide a very accessible public transport service. • The Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) and Veolia Transport have established a number of accessibility initiatives related to Luas services including disability awareness training for all staff, systems guides in accessible formats and a customer charter.

  13. Ticket Machines The Ticket Xpress machines are ATOC accredited and the first TVMs in “revenue earning service“ to be compliant with SRA (UK) code of practice (DDA). They are to be provided with Chip & Pin. Installation at nine key Luas stops and all stops on Luas extensions

  16. Park and Ride Red Line: • Red Cow has 756 parking spaces with 12 designated disabled spaces. • Tallaght has 425 parking spaces. Green Line: • Stillorgan has 313 parking spaces with 5 designated disabled spaces. • Balally has 428 parking spaces with 28 designated disabled spaces. • Parking for disabled users is free of charge.

Metro • Transport 21 proposes the development of two new Metro services – Metro North from St. Stephen’s Green to Swords and an orbital line, Metro West, linking the Tallaght Luas line with Metro North. • The Metro service will incorporate the most up to date accessibility provisions for people with mobility, sensory and cognitive impairments in line with those already provided on the LUAS network. • The output specification for Metro vehicles incorporates requirements for accessibility. These draw substantially on feedback from the disability groups represented in the Metro Accessibility Group (MAG) as well as current legislation and recommendations from authorities both in Ireland and abroad.
